Starting Defender: Garrett (#16)
Garrett is a city boy who grew up in Fort Worth, Texas (population: 700,000 ). Garrett graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 2002 and joined the US Navy in 2004. He moved to Jacksonville in 2005 to serve on the USS Klakring as a Sonar Technician and was a Petty Officer, Second Class. Meeting Lauren confirmed his desire to finish his six year commitment and start a new, life-long one.
Garrett’s a full-time student and soccer player at Jacksonville University. He’s pursuing a degree in Communications tor video production, while also holding down the back line on the Mens’ Soccer team.
Garrett has a thing for video games, movies, Journey and turtles. Three words that Lauren uses to describe Garrett are: clever, enlightening, and adorkable.
Starting Forward: Lauren (#5)
Lauren is a small town girl, having grown up in Molalla, Oregon (population: 6,000 8,000 ). Lauren left Oregon for college at Northern Arizona University (2006 graduate), with a brief stop in Ireland (University of Limerick study abroad). Post-college, she worked for brass|MEDIA, a start up media company in Corvallis, Oregon (GO BEAVS!) prior to convincing the PGA TOUR to hire her for a “dream job” (social media & fan outreach) in 2008. She’s been in Jacksonville, Florida ever since.
Her favorite sports include volleyball and golf, and after moving to Jacksonville she took up running (completed a 15K in 2009 & 2011, and half marathon in 2009). Lauren is also involved in Social Media Club Jax (founder) , when not cheering on Garrett during his soccer games.
Lauren has a thing for Twitter, live music, cross-stitching and turtles. Three words that Garrett uses to describe Lauren are: thoughtful, caring & chickadee!
